This Gloria after all of Lent not hearing it, accompanied by the triumphant ringing of the bells as we commemorate Our Lord making Himself available to us, by instituting the Blessed Sacrament… and remembering all of this, knowing that it is just before Good Friday when Jesus is about to suffer so heavily for our redemption… it moves me to tears every time I hear it.

OMG this piece brings me to my knees. I like rock, I like a lot of hard rock/metal, my musical interests span a wide scope. But if I ever had to pick just one (1) all time favorite piece of music, this piece floors me every time!! Julius, in a short life span, you were a freaking genius!

It's the bagpipes stupid! The ultimate source of this type of music is the bagpipes - you can hear it in the rhythmns -going back to the siciliana and the pastorale and eventually to ancient Sicily with the Sicilian shepherds playing their music as they watched their flocks on the Sicilian hill tops.

The best performance of this I've heard. Not mechanical at all, as though hanging on for dear life 'til the end, no (which would be understandable with this piece).
